About Sherry:

Sherry Russell is a Grief Management Specialist,  Board Certified in Bereavement Trauma, Board Certified Expert in Traumatic Stress and a Diplomate, American Academy of Experts in Traumatic Stress. She is a member of a Suicidology Research Program, American Academy of Experts for Traumatic Stress, Association of Death Education and Counseling National and Florida Chapter, and is listed in the International Academy of Experts.  Sherry's volunteer work includes being a mentor for "at risk" teens, providing articles on mental health issues for non profit organizations, grief resources for natural disasters, breast cancer legislative volunteer, animal rescue, and hospital patient advocate. 

She is on the Board of Advisors for The Bright Side - Wings of Support, a non-profit organization.  She is in charge of the Coping with Loss Section http://www.the-bright-side.org/site/thebrightside/section/337 and writes a monthly column titled Lost and Found http://www.the-bright-side.org/site/thebrightside/section/718 Sherry is one of the grief specialists offering grief support and articles on ShareGrief. Sherry is recognized as an inspirational speaker and a talented writer capable of "healing people's hearts and minds with her encouraging words". Her articles have been referred to as "circuit breakers for the brain". She has one published book and over 200 published articles on line and in magazines. Sherry first book, "Conquering the Mysteries and Lies of Grief" (ISBN: 1591297249), is being utilized in colleges in the U.S., Israel, Australia, New Zealand, Canada and China. The book is also highlighted on numerous grief-related and medical sites including the Medical College of Wisconsin. Her second grief book is scheduled for release at the end of 2005. 

She has spent over 20 years working with people in grief and designed a series of educational GriefWorkshops that are presently being used in Funeral Home Aftercare Programs, Hospice and in Community Outreach programs.

She is active in The American Academy of Experts in Traumatic Stress® which "is a multidisciplinary network of professionals who are committed to the advancement of intervention for survivors of trauma. The Academy aims to identify expertise among professionals, across disciplines, and provide meaningful standards for those who work regularly with survivors. The International membership includes individuals from over 200 professions in the health-related fields, emergency services, criminal justice, forensics, law, business and education.  The mission is to increase awareness of the effects of traumatic events and, ultimately, to improve the quality of intervention with survivors.
